Public-Private Partnerships: Innovation for Development in Action

With a culture of collaboration and sharing, NetHope brings together partners interested in using technology to make a difference in people’s lives. Carol Bothwell and Chris Thomas met at a NetHope conference and quickly realized there was a way to work together and

“scale” technology. As Chief Strategist for Intel, Chris saw the opportunity to “take technology and reach into the development community and use technology for good in a new and different way.”

These cloud based technology solutions aren’t simply pilot programs, but end-to-end solutions. It’s about building capacity for technology, providing the equipment, the laptops for people to grow food across multiple nations and languages. Technology enables us to put the tools people need in developing countries. This technology and tools empower the people directly.Cloud-based mobile platforms can be scaled quickly in developing regions to serve humanitarian efforts.

While the Open Humanitarian Initiative is a huge project for NetHope that focuses on building capacity and sharing open data in disaster response, this video provides a glimpse at the efficiency and effectiveness of partners working in collaboration and making a difference with technology.

NetHope embodies and lives collaboration and sharing. They value and foster partnership.
